Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS)

At Advanced Vision Institute, we believe that bringing our patients the best medical care possible means ongoing surgical skills training and keeping abreast of the latest technological advancements. That’s why we strive to bring you the latest innovations in cataract surgery technology.

Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS)

Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS) is a laser-assisted cataract surgery which brings a new level of precision to portions of cataract surgery and has the potential to increase the already high safety profile of cataract surgery. This form of cataract surgery allows the patient to receive customized treatment.

Your surgeon will use the laser to create a circular opening for accessing and removing the cataract. The laser can also be used to break up and soften the hard cataract, enabling it to be removed more gently and with significantly less ultrasound energy than is used in traditional manual cataract surgery.
